The  Staff of Wooster High School, and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs agree that this contract outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.

This school-parent compact is in effect during school year 2021.

School Responsibilities

The Staff of Earl Wooster High School will:

·        Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows:

Wooster is a three star school and a proud IB (International Bachelorette) school and a partner in the Yearly Progress or MYP program.  We host many foreign exchange students and English Language learners, and have a robust EL program to support them.

-         We Employ a GEAR UP program to ensure our incoming and lower classmen students have information on graduation and have a personal plan toward getting there.

-         For our upper classmen we encourage participation in our Galloping Group which is tracking and ensuring students are following their credit plans to graduate!

Wooster provides quarterly progress reports for all Special Education Students.  We also provide academic warning notices each Term for any students who have a C or below by the half way point of the term.  Report cards are also distributed to students and a copy mailed home at the ends of each term.  Parents and students are also instructed on how to access the districts academic tracking site Infinite Campus, and from there can look up grades, assignments in specific classes, see attendance and credit attainment.

·        Provide parents reasonable access to staff.  Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows:

Office staff and grade level counselors are available daily for contact if a parent has questions or concerns about their student’s progress or courses.  All teachers and SPED case managers can also be emailed or called and will set up a meeting in person or over the phone to consult with families.  Typically this can be arranged the same day as parent request for contact.

·        Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities, as follows:

Typically this is an opportunity we send notice of in our newsletters and posted on our website.  As it stands now with COVID guidelines we cannot allow families to come into the campus to volunteer in person, but virtual volunteers on TEAMS are welcome for class monitoring or supports.
